Bartender Interview Reveals A Lot For Aspiring Bartenders

Recently I took a questionnaire among the local bartenders so all of the readers can grasp the process of becoming a bartender.  Many of the bartenders I have met have gotten lucky and made the right contacts at the right times.  Don’t be discouraged, though, I have also met a plethora of people who have obtained their jobs by attending a bartender school online.  Here is a questionnaire of a local bartender and the particulars that come with being a local bartender in her shoes.

1.)    What made you want to be a bartender?

I knew the money would be more than decent and it was an easy way to start networking.

2.)    How did you become a bartender?

I went to bartender school and started going to job interviews with what I had learned.

3.)    Where did you learn how to bartend?

I learned in an online bartending school and further increased my knowledge with on-job training.

4.)    How long have you been a bartender?

I have been a bartender now for a year and a half…. And loving it!

5.)    What type of places have you worked?

I have worked in mostly sports bars.  I, also, have worked in some corporate restaurants.

6.)    What’s you favorite part about the job?

I, absolutely, enjoy my job and look forward to going to work everyday.

7.)    What is your favorite drink to make?

I really don’t have a favorite drink to make, but I do enjoy selling people craft beers.  It feels good to get people out of their everyday funk and have them try something new.

8.)    What are the most common drinks you make?

Long Island Iced Teas are the hands-down favorite at my place of work.  Every so often, I will have the pleasure of pouring scotch or shaking up a martini.

9.)    What is you favorite craft beer?

Mama’s lil Yella Pils by Oskar Blues would have to be my favorite.  I enjoy a refreshing beer in a can and it just has that refreshing taste.

10.)   Would you recommend bartending as job and career choice?

I, honestly, love my job. I have gained a lot of life long friends and networked my way into a career job if I chose to change professions tomorrow.  Bartending is a great idea for any person who was like me and had no direction in what they wanted to do in life.  Don’t forget that it is extremely fun.  Who doesn’t want to be the bartender?
